What's the difference between Jesus and a picture of Jesus?

A. The difference - We can see a picture of what man think he looks like but we can not see him - We must just believe that he's there. We can cast our eyes upon a picture of him but no one really knows how he looks and those that do are not living to tell us. Why? Because his overwhelming beauty will kill you at first glace.

What are some ways that show Jesus was a good philosopher?
Q. I am looking for specific ways that indicate Jesus was a good philosopher. Jesus as in the guy who wore sandals and was born in a manger, not Jesus that works at Arby's and lives in the apartment complex in the ghetto. Thanks.

How did Jesus effect the history of the Roman Civilization?
Q. The actual question is "How did a historical person affect the history of his/her civilization?" This is for ancient history class and I chose Jesus. Any ideas?

A. Hello, Certainly not adversely as some think. The Western Empire lasted another 400 years and the Eastern Empire 1400 years. Don't forget the Republic itself fell 50 years before the birth of Christ. No other Empire in history has lastes as long a Rome. Cheers, Michael Kelly

How come Jesus is still painted white if his bloodline was African?
Q. Reading the bible and knowing the Israelites were black africans coming out of egypt and Jesus is mentioned in the bloodline at the beginning of the new testament, why is he still being painted white. He was of the african tribe called the Essens. The Essens were those who wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls.

A. because when Constantine instated Catholicism as the religion of the Roman Empire they wouldn't have wanted to worship a black person, and since all of the other religions in Christianity (like Church of England, Protestant, Baptist etc) branched off from Catholicism at different times in history, they would have kept the depiction of Jesus that they have become accustomed too. All of the Christian denominations are basically the same religion with minor differences in practice, so they all picture him the same way, and people wouldn't want to change their ideas of their own religion. they should depict him the way he probably was though, but its the same thing with the bible, some people take it literally but it is not a literal text, it… [cont.]

A. I am old, and so far I have yet to meet a WHITE man nor a BLACK man. Both colors cease to exist in the coloration of humanity. The only true fact that we need to know is that we are HUMAN, and created in God's own image. Just as a spirit is no more white nor black, neither is it pretty or ugly, man nor woman. It is our "self" and a "being" that goes beyond any earthly bodily form. God doesn't mention skin coloration for a reason... it's irrelevant!

If God spared Jesus for having his own idea of morality, why would he punish all others that do?
Q. Jesus acted completely different than God and Eve wanted to know good from bad too, and good people are to be sent to hell if not Christians. But God punished Eve, yet spared Jesus, but both Jesus and Eve are his children. But Eve at least knew what to not do. Good people all over the world however have no proof that God ever existed so they are NOT told to believe in God, they are simply given a hint and plenty that oppose it.

A. Jesus and Eve are not both "God's children"; Eve was the first female human that God created, and we are all like her and Adam - and just as sinful. Jesus is God himself, he is the part of God that became human. Jesus did not act completely different from God, because he IS God. If the God of the Bible is real, then the only true morality is the standard that he sets, which is based on who he is. If a person did not want to acknowledge God's standard of morality as being the true one, then that person is already saying "I don't want to know you, now or in eternity." When Jesus fed thousands by multiplying the bread and fish, did he create new matter into the universe?
Q. When Jesus performed the miracles of multiplying bread and fish twice in the Bible, did he create new matter into the Universe, or just converted existing matter in the Universe into the bread and fish. Also, would the gravity of the earth and the Universe have changed if Jesus created new matter in the Universe?
Asked by KingofClay - Mon Aug 2 03:21:42 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. This is something I've half wondered about before. How exactly did these miracles, and others, happen? Physically speaking, how? As the disciples were giving out bread, at what point did the new bread appear? Did it even "appear"? It's an unsatisfying answer, I know, but ultimately the Bible does not say so we do not know. They were miracles, and so of course the natural 'laws' of physics that we know were obviously not 'followed' at that specific time (that's why it was a miracle).

What is the difference between Jesus being our Redeemer and being our Savior?
Q. Many non-Catholics state that Jesus is our Savior. Which I believe He is as well. But Catholics stress more on Him redeeming us first then saving us. What's the difference? And why don't non-Catholics talk about His redemption more? Any scripture references?

A. "Redeemer" is the role assigned to Jesus by Matthew, presumably as the fulfillment of Jewish prophecy. "Savior" was used by Luke to make Christianity more comprehensible to gentiles.

A. It does not. History is not subjective. It consists of facts, events and corroborations. History intends to do nothing to assert itself; it is merely a collection of facts from a variety of sources by a number of persons deemed responsible for the facts. Jesus is an historical person.
